WELLINGBOROUGH CARNIVAL
The acoustic roots marquee will feature a varied bill of the finest
folk, blues and acoustic acts in the country. Running from 12 noon till
6pm on Saturday 4 July at Croyland Park, Wellingborough, the afternoon
will start with an open mic session from 12 till 2pm, then, from 2pm
till 6pm, we have four top acoustic roots acts, all of them Kontra Roots
Club favourites:
2 - 3pm - PAUL LIDDELL - sensational premier league folk-pop

3 - 4pm - STEVE SKAITH BAND - vibrant folk rock mixed with Latin and

4 - 5pm - GRAHAM ROBINS - the great soul, blues, country and gospel

5 - 6pm - THE KING BEES - first rate classic four piece blues band,

And finally, just to let you all know that the total amount raised for
Cransley Hospice in Kettering from the proceeds of THE FESTIVAL IN
MEMORY OF AL TAIT last March (also including the Rockin' Earth Tremers
fundraiser in February plus a couple of other related donations) now
exceeds £5,000, which is absolutely remarkable! The presentation of the
cheque to a Cransley representative will be at the Duke's Arms,
Woodford, at 8pm this coming Thursday evening, just before the start of
the weekly open mic. |

LIVE ALBUM AND DVD RECORDING - THE MUSICIAN LEICESTER SAT 25TH JULY
This is a special gig where we want to cram in as many friends as possible
for a cracking night of music and record it!The result will hopefully be our
new album :o)
The line up features Leicester 4 peice ONE TOWN OVER, Kettering fine
intsrumentalist DANIEL WARDROP, the gorgeous vocals and cello of CHERRY AND
THE ORCHESTRA plus the awesome songwriter that is JOHN BUDDING.
Its a fantastic venue.Doors at 8pm and on til 12.

MUSICIAN HOSTING GIGS
We love the Musician so much and we are lucky they will be allowing us to
host a monthly gig there starting Tues 25th August with a very special guest
to be announced very soon. We already have IAN MCNABB confirmed for Friday
Oct 30th. So watch this space or the venues website for details.
THE MAX BAR ACOUSTIC CLUB, KETTERING - Now Every Weds
If you havent been to Max Bar yet its next to the Royal Hotel, formerly The
Vaults/Cavan off the market place in Kettering and is now under new
management and has been refurbished. It's a chilled candlelit atmosphere
with our decent pa system and has easy parking nearby. Each week will have
at least one top feature artist doing a 30 min set but the rest of night is
open mic and if you wish to play you will get a min of 3 songs. Solos, duos,
trios, four-peices playing acoustic based sets of any kind are welcome. Its
not however suitable for full rock out bands with drum kits amps type
(please check with the venue for their regular electric jam sessions for
that). Pop down for a pint a- and check it out - its free and it'd be good
to seeya!But please sign up early if you wish to get a slot.

OLIVES OPEN MIC NIGHT LEICESTER Every Thurs
Olives Open Mic Night has been going for a few years now and is a well
established live music fixture on the Leicester music scene. Now part of the
music nights’ at Olives titled ‘The Olive Grove’ the Open Mic runs every
Thursday and it is hosted by singer songwriter Stevie Jones, with his
brother Nick on the desk. Every week we have two quality featured artists
doing 30 min sets, usually from 9.30 - 10.30pm but the rest of the night is
available for all kinds of performers. We don't have enough space for full
band sets ie drumkits but acoustic sets of any kind are welcome. We have a
decent pa and a small stage area. It’s always a nice chilled out atmoshere
with candles ,sofas and good selection of beers and wines and always offers
on shots and bottled beers/pitchers.To book a slot just turn up EARLY (8pm
is best) and get your name down on the list – it's first come first served
and recently its been filling up fast. You’ll get a min of a 2/3
song set maybe more depending how busy it is.
8pm kick off and it runs til 11pm.

Leicester. The venue only holds about 40 people but is a great intimate
